At the end of any rental agreement, a renter is required to return the property to the owner in the same condition that they found it, minus any fair wear and tear.

Providing the renter meets this condition and all the rent is up to date, the renter will receive their BOND back in full.

DIRTY FANS AND FILTERS

As you prepare your vacate clean, don’t forget to ensure all fans and filters in bathrooms, toilets, kitchens are cleaned.

OVENS AND STOVETOPS

Both ovens and stovetops likely will need extra attention before you vacate the rental property. Take the time to clean both thoroughly.

LIGHTBULB REPLACEMENTS

Missing or non working bulbs are one of the most common reasons a renter might have a small amount deducted from their bond. Again it comes down to leaving the property in the condition that you were giving it, SO prior to departure, turn on the lights and ensure that all lightbulbs that were working when you commenced your tenancy are working when you leave.

FLYWIRES AND WINDOWS

Windows need to be clean and insect screens (fly screens) should be in working order and free from dust, holes and rips.

If the fly screens have suffered damage due to a pet during your tenancy or perhaps they have come free from the window frame, please fix this before you leave.

WALL MARKS AND HOOK HOLES

As part of the vacate, all walls should be wiped over and cleaned to remove any scuff marks or dirt and dust. Same with skirting boards and interior cupboards shelves.

We suggest you go room from room and clean all walls, cupboards and skirtings as you go prior to leaving the property.

ADHESIVE HOOKS

If you have used temporary adhesive hooks on the walls, these will need to be removed along with their adhesive.

When removing these, please do so carefully so you don’t damage the wall or door they are fixed to. Adhesive residue can be removed with eucalyptus oil, which can be then wiped off.

GARDEN RUBBISH

If your property includes a garden, this too will need to be returned in a similar state to which you were given it.

This includes filling in any garden holes that were made by pets and removing all garden rubbish.
